We have just been allowed to leave our building after being held captive here for the past 2.5 hours. Local police found a backpack sitting on a gas main in downtown Shreveport, LA. As it turns out, the local Fire Dept had a press conference scheduled today to show off their new bomb robot. Instead of a press conference they got to 'give him a try' while the cameras were rolling.
As it turns out, the used some sort of explosive to open the bag and sifted through some poor homeless person's clothes that were now destroyed. I have to wonder if they would have gone to all of this trouble last week if they had found the same bag. You see, this particular alley is behind the library and in between our parking garage and our building. Homeless people like to sleep in our garage because of the way it is designed. It is shaded by several tall buildings and has several places where the airflow can be avoided in the winter and taken advantage of in the summer. They know that they have to be out early or the building people will run them off. What I am saying is that they frequent this area. Everyone knows it.
I am sure they were taking extra precautions. We are a semi hard terror target. Our neighbor city houses the B52 Bombers. All that considered I still wonder if they were just taking the opportunity to play with their new toy.
