He better take a couple of local politicians with him.

I am so disgusted with all of the information coming out about how Governor Blanco handled this situation. I am also sick of hearing that Mike Brown should resign now. If he has to resign, she should have to resign and personally apologies to everyone who lost someone to this storm. I don't hold her accountable for the possessions of these people. I hold her accountable for the lives she swore to protect.

She is the highest official in the state and is claiming ignorance. If you get pulled over for speeding and you say you didn't know what the speed limit was, don't you still get a ticket? She has some pretty big balls to say ... I didn't know I had to do that.

Here's the problem. She doesn't like the president (I don't think he likes her either). She wanted to be a hero and she was a flop because she just didn't know all that she HAD to do.

I am happy that our government has checks that do not allow them to just rush in and take over. This makes sure our state rights are protected. Part of the responsibility of local government is learning how to deal effectively with the federal government and, most certainly learning all that you need to do in a time of disaster.

Note :
In the past two weeks we have seen a lot of tragedy as a nation. The awful job of cleaning up and rebuilding lives is just starting. If you have a shelter or center in your area, please volunteer your time. The volunteers rush out in mass but tend to return to the day to day grind sooner than the problems go away. I'm guilty of it. I'm going to do something about it though. I will volunteer this weekend. If you can, you should too. Thanks.

Some people seem to think that Governors work for the federal government.

If Michael Brown ends up resigning, it should only be if he falsefied his resume and lied under oath in his comfirmation hearings. FEMA did great in Alabama and MIssissippi, which tells me that the problems in Louisiana wasn't because Michael Brown was the director, but because Gov. Blonco and Mayor Nagin were less competent at their jobs as Michael Brown was... falsifications and all.

People seem to forget that 4 states were clobbered, not just one.  And the only real bitching you hear is from the one.  Perhaps because that one has the worst leadership?

You both get a cookie for the comment. I'm glad to see that the problems with this state are evident to the world outside LA.

That is so very true. I guess I would be bitching too if I knew that I didn't do something that I should have done. Maybe all of that bitching will make a good smoke screen. Oops! It didn't.
