They were never really there

What we are about to see unfold is the largest corrupt city in America. There are reasons that Louisiana officials didn't want the Feds involved in the rescue of New Orleans. They were afraid that someone just might start poking around in their business

Eddie Compass has resigned as the New Orleans Police chief, the Associated Press Reports.

On the heels of N.O. police chief Eddie Compass' resignation, allegations are emerging. Fox News' Tony Snow has said that of the 1700 police working for New Orleans, maybe only 1000 really exist.

Rogers asked someone in the know, who agreed with Snow's statements.

"It's pretty much always been known, but never openly acknowledged, that NOPD's actual numbers were far below the "official" figure of 1500 - 1700," said the source.

"To get that number over 1500, and thus qualify for federal funding, Compass and his predecessors counted reservists and certain retirees as active duty officers. The REAL number is, and has been for some time, a lot closer to 1000."

To those of you on the outside of this state it might be pretty hard to believe that any of this is possible. That is, until you look at how many current and former Louisiana politicians are being investigated or take residence in one of our local prisons.

Our government makes millions in tax revenue from the casino river boats. Where does the money go? Not where they say it does. We are supposed to be paying our teachers more with that money. I doubt they really see a dime of it.

If you do the math...

$36,000 a year average for a NO police officer
+ $14,000 a year for benefits (you have to provide benefits or something will appear fishy) (this number may be a little low)
* 700 non existent officers
_____________
$35,000,000.00

The math is right but the numbers may be a little low. It is no wonder that the week after Katrina, NO went bankrupt trying to make payroll.

Naggin was later quoted as saying... "I trust he is going to make a lot of money when he leaves the city of New Orleans," while speaking of Compass

I'm sure he will. They couldn't have spent all thirty five million yet.

You are there, so I will take you at your word.  I dont know how reputable the Dead Pelican is, but if this is true, I suspect Compass next stop is Rio.

I'm just wondering if anything we heard from the news about Katrina ever happened. So far, other than a hurricane and the normal problems one causes, the things we've heard about New Orleans were either just rumors, or the status quo in New Orleans.

Come on now, you don't mean to imply that there are crooked officials in "The Big Easy"?
Why that ranks right up there with the accusations that the main stream media is bias, or even that urban legend that the sky is blue...........hehehe

All of my family is from Lake Charles. We have 2 - 80+ year olds, a couple of moms, a few kids, and a boyfriend ... oh yeah and 5 dogs inaddition to our 2. So we have ten adults and seven dogs. We have over 40 others scattered out across town in every place we could find.

I am so happy that the local government in Lake Charles isn't trying to keep people out to help them restore life there. They are due to publish the re-entry schedule any minute.

Everyone is happy to have somewhere to go but they sure do want to go home.
